This Monday we went to the doctor for an ultrasound. The sonographer asked us if we would like to test the baby for downsyndrome. Stephen and I had already discussed this with each other and we decided that we didn't want to know. Our baby is our baby no matter what! We heard the baby's heartbeat again, the first time she measured it, it was 157 beats per minute and the second time she measured it, it was 161 beats per minute. All within healthy range! We were amazed at how much our little baby had grown since the last ultrasound. You could see the arms, legs, hands, feet, nose, etc. Such an amazing sight! Our baby had the hiccups and was moving quite a bit! I could have sat and watched all day. While the sonographer was looking around, we asked her if she could try to look and see if she could see what gender the baby is... ( I have a friend at work that has a 2 year old and she found out at 13 weeks what she was having.) I was 12 weeks and 4 days on Monday, so I thought I would give it a shot and ask. She said that she didn't like to look this early because it is still so hard to tell but that "off the record" she would look and tell us what she thought. My dad and Stephen were pointing out that they could see something between the baby's legs, the sonographer pointed out the umbilical cord, and then another "growth" between the baby's legs. She looked at us and asked "What do you think that means?" We all smiled and said, It's a BOY! Dad asked her if she had to give a percentage of how accurate it was, what would she say. She told us 80% that it was probably a boy! We are so excited! We haven't totally agreed on a name yet, other than Michael for the middle name, after my dad. So for now we are calling our little man "Baby Michael Waldrop.." And well Stephen and my dad like to aggravate me and call him Bocephus!
Here are some pictures from the sonogram!
